I quote the William Arthur Ward’s quotation to commence with, “The mediocre teacher tells, the good teacher explains, the superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires” I unquote. It has now become a time where a teacher has to be fully inspirational along with the technologies usage. So, I have tried to use various means of ICT and integrated the use of ICT in my daily teaching. While using ICT in online teaching, I have come cross many pros and cons especially with the problem of limited learning resources and to fully utilize the advantages of using the ICT in classroom. The most important thing that I’ve been benefitted from using ICT is the ability to present my teaching aids and learning materials very clearly. This was mainly because of the use of smart phones and we chat forum and of course the internet facility. Some other benefit of using ICT was the usage of XRecorder APPs which I used to demonstrate reading and to do teaching as well. By availing different medium of ICT, I was able to go beyond the curriculum and get access to additional information to keep children abreast with the current situation. I browsed for extra information and material that are available from the internet which made learning more easy and fun. Therefore, ICT in teaching has really eased the work for both the teacher and the students. Sometimes, when the student ask their doubts which I also find difficult, then, I use Google facilities to clear their doubts and be a confident teacher teaching to the young children.
Coming to my ICT teaching and learning for the month of October, first we printed the SIM (Self Instructional Materials) volume IV and V. Then, I went to the villages to distribute and do contact teaching while distributing the SIM. After that, I taught them through we chat and XRecorder for reading. I also sent them some e-learning videos and they were also taught on how to search for e-learning video lessons in the earlier months. Sometimes, we call them in small groups to the school with COVID protocols for learning and we also went to their home twice a week. Finally, I asked children to submit their work through we chat and their assessment was done there.
